“Dear Samantha and Staff,I could not let 2010 pass by without sending all of the staff at Five Stacks a big thank you for looking after my father. Since he moved into Five Stacks he is so much happier, relaxed and at peace with himself despite the terrible illness he has to endure. This is all down to the care and professionalism of all the staff at Five Stacks. It is very reassuring for myself and mother, to know that he is being looked after so well and that he is relaxed and happy where he lives. I would like to especially mention my father’s 80th Birthday Party which was held one Sunday afternoon in the summer at Five Stacks. When I arrived at the party I could not believe the effort and organisation that had gone in to organising this party. Great effort was put into the entertainment, layout, food and decorations and i could see that the other resident’s families had all been invited to make the party extra special. I also noted how the staff made an extra special effort and the management took time to come in at the weekend to attend and join in. Anyone reading this letter and considering sending their relative to Five Stacks should have no doubt that sending my father here was the best decision that my family ever made”

"When my mother arrived at Five Stacks for respite care she was very weak, in considerable pain and very, very frail. During the four months she spent with you she received the highest standard of care and was treated with the utmost respect. Gradually, through your support, she returned to being the mother I knew and loved and was able to go home.
What was clear to me was that every member of staff at Five Stacks had been properly trained, that they loved their jobs and that they had huge amounts of compassion.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Five Stacks to anybody needing respite or long term care.
Thank you once again"

“Thank you to everyone at Five Stacks for the care, kindness and love you gave my mum in the four years she was with you.
It is never an easy decision to put a loved one in a “Home” but I quickly realised you could care for her in a way I couldn’t. A weight was lifted and you continued to support me, never making light of my worries but always being positive. I was able to enjoy coming to visit Mum. There was always a friendly face, cup of Tea and a chat. Most of all Mum was happy and it is a comfort to me that she died in her own bed, having a “lie-in” !!

"My Name is Alan and my Mum has been a resident at Five Stacks for 7 years, now she is their longest serving member and was the first Alzheimer’s patient to reside there. My Mum is 86 now and her Dementia has now progressed but I feel she still knows me and that she is very happy living in her “Posh Hotel”. Three years ago mum fell and broke her hip and was operated on in Colchester Hospital, she didn’t fare to well and the hospital told me she only had three or four days to live, I asked Five Stacks if I could bring mum back there to die and was told ‘of course this is mums Home’ To cut a long story short the owners helped by their lovely staff rehydrated mum, loved and looked after her and got her well again and now three years down the line mum is still going strong, I often refer to them as miracle workers. I visit Five Stacks at least once a week at any time I like and i am always looked after and made to feel welcome. In my opinion although it has grown in size Five Stacks is not just an ordinary residential care home to people who reside there it is a proper caring loving family home and I would recommended it to anyone. I am 60 now and I have already booked my place !”

"In my experience Five Stacks is truly a home from home, not a "Home". My aunt was resident there for just over 3 years and I feel that she was very happy and contented.
The staff are dedicated to caring for everyone as if they were their own relative. They are cared for in a clean, friendly and familiar surroundings where nothing is too much trouble. Personal possessions are encouraged in order to enhance their own personal space and to stimulate memories.
I was always made welcome with a smile and a cuppa and kept informed of my aunt's welfare. Importantly for me dignity is maintained, respect shown along with an understanding of dementia and associated conditions.
What more could I have asked for in my aunt's last days? Nothing!
A very sincere thank you to you ALL.
I would not hesitate to recommend Five Stacks, it makes that daunting decision a bit easier."

“After being unwell last year the doctors said I needed immediate Respite care, I stayed at Five Stacks Residential Home, which was a true blessing for me with their help, continuous support, friendship and excellent food, I gained a healthy weight, became stronger, I was able to enjoy gardening in their beautiful gardens and this all helped me get over my stress and was able to return home. I still visit Five Stacks a few times a week and I am always welcome to join for lunch and use their facilities and they always invite me to their parties and I spent Christmas there. As they knew I was on my own. The Family and staff are marvellous”
